#Birding (and other stuff) pix from Antelope Island on Jan 7.

Antelope Island is one of my very favorite places in Utah to visit. This is the first winter we've actually made an effort to go, and it's a very different place this time of year than in spring or summer. No spiders. Weird ducks. Bald eagles! It's cold, but still beautiful. I shot 30 pictures I thought were worth posting (new camera continues to be amazeballs), so here they are.

American goldfinch. All over the place.

Bald eagle. Probably the same one, coming in at the marina, and going out flew over and landed on the ice by the bridge, precipitating a duck panic.

Ravens! Like... five feet from the car, and not bothered at all.

Great horned owls! We found all three of them this time.

Loggerhead shrike, always a treat. I love these little birds.

Red-shafted flickers. Did not expect to see an entire flock of them in a tree.

Porcupines still all over the trees on the road to Garr Ranch.

They were catching bighorn sheep to transfer to Delta, and we were lucky enough to be there when they choppered one in.

Spotted towhee. Hubby calls them "robins with attitude."
