So, the [info]fanficrants homeschooling wank hit Fandom_Wank, as it was bound to do--although I looked for it first in OTF_Wank, because it has little to do with fandom per se.

What's got me sporfling?

This comment: Agilebrit just being, like, "Oh, hey, yeah, I'm a fundie," made me go D:.

Is it some sort of secret that I'm a fundie? Did the fact that my first fanfic ever was Christian!Spike, and that I've written four stories in that 'verse (one of which was the longest I've ever written) not clue them in? Am I just not internets-famous enough? Was [info]ginmar's calling me a "stupid Xtian housewife" in the oh-so-famous wank not a big enough clue? Do I need to scream it from the housetops in all caps on my profile page?

Is it just because I don't talk about it all that often? Because, seriously, I don't generally feel the need to.

No, no. I called myself a fundie. Because I am. I don't consider it a perjorative unless someone is using "that" tone of voice; it's merely a descriptive term as far as I'm concerned. But I do try to put the "fun" in "fundie," and I'm pretty sure Fred Phelps would think I'm going to Hell. After all, I'm also a Joss Whedon fan. ;)

Hehe. Well as long as you're not "that" kind of fundie, it's all good. And as you definitely seem willing to discuss and share ideas, I get the feeling you're definitely the kind of "fundie" a lot of people would dig.

You know, as long as people are willing to let me have my beliefs (which I realize might seem odd to others, but I have good reasons for having) without calling my intelligence into question or wishing me raped and pregnant, I'm shiny.

Anyone who thinks wishing someone raped and pregnant from that rape is definitely not someone I'd want to talk to, regardless of his/her beliefs :) So it's all good for me too.

Oh, it's just a giant ball of wank. I felt faintly attacked (in general), and lashed out a bit (in general) in the comments, and then someone from Australia mentioned the fact that they thought that fundie homeschooling was horrific, and they were further horrified when I informed them that here we also have fundie private schooling. And that precipitated the person at Fandom_Wank making a sadface that I'm a fundie.

I'm just gobsmacked that anyone familiar with the Ginmar thing (as, seriously, everyone at Fandom_Wank is) wouldn't know my religious leanings. Maybe I'm just not obvious enough... I mean, I don't foam at the mouth and carry a sign.

That's some wankity wank ya got there. This is almost entirely off-topic, but that show who friended you tool you mentioned back there has always made me squirm. If I see ONE PERSON has defriended me, I weep quietly for a couple of days. Weenie of me? Yes, indeed.

I have a couple of serious Christian friends on my flist. (I'm more of the "lukewarm, that will be spat out" variety myself). Hey, I'm going to [info]spiralleds ordination this Sunday!

Yeah, I check my info page about twice a week to see if my numbers have gone down, and then I look at the Joule to see who it was. I wish LJ would just notify us when we got defriended like they do when someone friends us.

"stupid Xtian housewife" If that isn't the lowest rung on the ladder, I don't know what is, except for, say, a stupid fundie Xtian housewife, LOL. I identify with the label "fundamentalist," because I refuse to let the meaning be sullied by people like Phelps. I believe in the fundamentals. If you don't have a strong grasp of the fundamentals, you can't play the game well.

It irritates the crap out of me for some people to denigrate motherhood, as if staying home and taking care of the next generation is done only by the weak-minded, stupid, and untalented. I was never much of a housewife, but I loved being home for that decade with our kids. It was a rewarding experience for me and the kids.

It boggles me when people consider stay at home moms to be oppressed.

To me, it would be heaven to be able to take care of my household full-time, instead of fitting it in whenever I can find a few hours.

Once our children were in school, and our daughter was out of her worst medical problems, I had to return to work to help dig our way out of poverty. Moms have a tough job whether they work outside the home full-time, part-time, or are able to remain at home. All situations should be respected. In an ideal world, we'd get to choose our paths rather than have them forced upon us.

I know that the stay at home routine isn't a cake walk either. Even when I take a week off of work to stay home and get caught up on my housework, it's amazing how fast my hours are eaten up, because everyone knows you're home and available. The point I didn't make very well was that my heart would be much more into taking care of homestead than it is in working away from my Nerd Domain.

The problem with discussing something like this is there is ample opportunity to offend without meaning to! You did not offend me, in case you were concerned.

Yes, because I was the stay-at-home mom, everyone thought I had scads of time on my hands, I should do all the baking for sales, run errands, and take care of other people's kids.

My heart was/is always at home once I married. I didn't mind working full-time before the children arrived, but it would have been heavenly to me to forget the workplace once I had a family. Maybe I'll feel differently once the kids are gone, but I doubt it! Because I stayed at home that decade, plus all of the medical expenses we had, we're sort of playing catch-up to be able to put away enough funds for retirement, and that may have to be postponed indefinitely! Still, I wouldn't take back that decade with our kids even if I do end up being the greeter at Wal-Mart in my old age.

Oh my goodness, that was YOU?!?!!?

I remember back when that kerfuffle first sprang up, and I followed it because I was on HonorH's flist. I think we became friends here after that.

It's hard to believe anyone would want to poke around in that mess two years later -- but go you, for sticking to your guns.
