Which is, really, the wrong reaction here. I should be feeding him chocolate-covered ants and absinthe, because he's been doing yeoman's work for the past couple of weeks. But, still, I'm a little frustrated.

The not!Iron Man story crossed over the 16,000-word mark. This means, if I want to keep it eligible for WotF, I've got less than a thousand words to play with. With a character like not!Tony, who Won't. Shut. UP, this is...a challenge.

But. The thing is that the scene where she wolfs out still feels flat. I keep asking myself "what could go wrong" here and not coming up with anything.

Hm. Maybe I just have. After all, Angel killed a werewolf with a silver pen once. If the guy searched the plane, opened not!Tony's briefcase, and stole his Mont Blanc, that would explain where it came from. Natch, I wouldn't kill her, but she could at least be injured more and have more at stake.

Maybe a letter opener instead, so I'm not stealing wholesale from Joss. Although why not!Tony would have one of those in his briefcase is, hm, possibly problematic. What other objects made from silver might he be toting around on a business trip overseas? Or objects made of silver that might be in the office of a terrorist dude that might come readily to hand?

Speaking of calories, the weigh-in this morning was 125.4. This puts me "officially" at 125 for the first time since...OMG. I don't even remember. Breast-feeding, seven years ago. I've got three weeks to lose three more so I'll actually feel comfortable about going to WorldCon and, well...pigging out on restaurant food.

Seriously, y'all, when you go to your state and national parks? Get out of the car and hike at least one pretty long path. You'll see things that you totally would have missed.

Of course, I have new blisters now. But it was a very satisfying day.

I did a before-and-after weigh-in yesterday. Before and after what, you ask? Mowing the lawn. I lost 6/10 of a pound. Pft, you say, water weight. Could be. Except this morning, not only was that weight still off, but another 2/10 was gone. After gaining a stupid amount of weight after hitting a weight I hadn't seen in ages, I think I'm heading in the right direction again. Yayness.

A lot of people on my flist seem to be going through a hard time today, and cuteoverload (which is crack on toast; everyone should have their feed friended, fer serious) had a pic of a couple of kitties, and so I made an icon.



I have a meeting tonight with my Writing Buddy. Hopefully he'll have gotten to the BeeFic, since that's the one that needs to go out next. And that will be seven stories in circulation. Other writing? Pft. The Muses have left the building. I have ideas for two stories, which is (as they say) half the battle. I even have an ending in mind for one of them. It's just a matter of banging them out. Maybe I'll take the puter with me today for my meeting and work on it after he leaves. Sitting there with no distractions and a nice cup of Caramel Macchiato has a tendency to shake stuff loose...

So, we watched some "Lois and Clark" from S2 (as we do), last night. And Lois and Clark go and visit a guy in prison, posing as street toughs. She's all tarted up (and looked pretty hot; I really like her hair when she does something other with it than just leaving it hanging there), and he's in jeans, a white t-shirt, and a leather jacket (looking mighty fine himself *slobbers*).

And what names do they use?

Wait for it...

Lois was "Angel." And Clark was "Spike."

I LOVE THIS SHOW.

We also watched some Farscape last night. And they're in a fairly nasty situation (which they generally are), but this had me rolling:

Stark (in reference to Rygel, who has just been sliced open from sternum to pubic bone): Oh, you do have three stomachs. And a little, tiny heart.

Because the Muse has been SO cooperative lately, I've signed up for the apocalyptothon and inlovewithnight's FluffyThon. At least I can sort of pick my fandoms a bit better for these, although if I get CSI:NY or House for the Apocalyptothon, I'm screwed. Writing out of my comfort zone lately has been of the bad.

My problem when I sign up for these things is generally coming up with a request for my own fic. Generally, if I want something written for me, I write it myself. So, the request requires more thought than I'm usually willing to put into something like this.
