So, in keeping with the "we always hurt the characters we love" theme, I decided to look at my original fiction and see where I stood in that department.

It's...not a pretty picture.

BeagleFic: This one is remarkably violence-free. Go me. It's the only one.

Gargoyles: Er. Dead baby, opening scene. Carnage throughout.

DragonFic: Exploding baby dragons. Charlie nearly dies in a space battle.

Merc&theSnake: Male and female protagonist both die. Medtech brings them back.

A&tS Male protag goes insane. Good times.

Werewolf Fic: Biting with subsequent wolferizing.

CatFeet: Story is about a serial killer. Nuff said.

BeeFic: Bees vs Faeries in a war over honey. Death and injury.

Abducted!Werewolf: Giant alien bugs kidnap the wrong Earthling. More carnage.

BearFic: Bear kills evil abbott.

Giant Bugs: Dog dies in opening scene. Did I mention I destroy the Pacific Ocean?

Bunny From Hell: Stuffed bunny wants to be Real. Current owner not able to make that happen. He smothers her. She's...five?

Faerie Show: Kidnapped faerie kills and eats prospective mate.

Not!Iron Man: Male protag gets the shit beat out of him and nearly dies. Female protag loses an eye.

Yeah. I think I have issues.

The lovely and effulgent sandratayler, who is married to the handsome and talented howardtayler (creator of the absolutely fabulous Schlock Mercenary--see icon), has a new children's book coming out called "Hold on to Your Horses." It's a lavishly-illustrated book about guiding your ideas in constructive ways. I got to look at the proofs at a get-together a bunch of us had after LTUE, and it's fabulous. Angela Call is the artist. I'll be ordering one soon for Da Boy.

The handsome and talented Paul Genesse had a book launch party on Saturday to celebrate the release of his first novel, The Golden Cord. I've read two of Paul's short stories (in the anthologies "Furry Fantastic" and "Fellowship Fantastic") and can testify that he can write. He's going to be in Arizona and Vegas doing book-type stuff for the next week or so.

Also, the handsome and talented kenrand's long-awaited western dark-fantasy novel, Pax Dakota, is now available. Buy it, or ask your local library to get it in?

In writing news, I did my 250 words last night before bed. Let's see if I can double that today. Tripling it would bring me up to around 4000 words overall. Considering I know the next two things I want to have happen, I could probably achieve that...

They're discussing Blooming Cactus at club_joss. I'm flattered and amazed and think that this is beyond cool...

In other news, I'm at 5600 words and counting on the apocalyptothon fic. I haven't even gotten them onto the planet yet...

However, progress is being made, oh yes. *evil laughter* I may even make it a chaptered fic.

Because, as aforementioned, I'm on crack, I've created a Jayne/Zoe comm, mercandthemate. So now all three people on LJ that think they'd be, um, interesting together, have a place to gather.
