Write Dammit

Day Two of the NaNo Project o'Doom.

Is now deemed a success. I haven't done 1700 words yet, but I'm at 3400 over the two days, so I'm on track. I'd like to hit 5000 today, since I raced to 2500 yesterday. I think I can do it, but if not, I'd like to at least hit 4200. I've introduced my main players and now need Plot to happen while I sow self-doubt into my angel--who is actually not coming across as angry and bitter so much as despairing and puzzled.

Well. That just means I need to tip him over somehow, doesn't it.

  • Wed, 06:25: 2500 words on Angry Bitter Angel story to start NaNo Project o'Doom yesterday. Let's see if I can do that again today.
  • Wed, 07:04: Sentence that brought me to 2666 words is a demon asking a guy how he can help him. How apropos.
  • Wed, 08:54: Hit 3400 words. Two days down. Won't rest on laurels, though, because a buffer is good. I can do 1600 more today. Right?

Nothing like being nearly 4200 words into a story before it starts clamoring at you that it wants to be in first person. It's the best thing ever.

I guess the question is, should I just write the damn thing in first person going forward and then fix the first 4000 words in edits, or should I continue in limited third and try to force it into a shape it doesn't want to be in.

Actually, I know the answer to that, and the answer is "Don't argue with the Muse because the Muse is frequently correct."

Especially since I just wrote the next sentence in first person anyway.
